First Step Award Sandra Wollner’s directorial debut The Trouble With Being Born, produced by Panama Film, wins the FIRST STEP AWARD for Best Feature Length Film.
The jury stated: In Sandra Wollner's film, androids wander through dense, gloomy forests and dreary, gray housing estates, but above all through
loose memories and repressed traumas. Into deep abysses full of beauty, longing and pain. In the constant change between disturbing
reality and futuristic romanticism. The director has succeeded in creating a very unique, unsettling, but also sensitive film,
which inevitably confronts us with the great questions of human existence. Where do we come from, where are we going? With
her very own signature and disconcerting aesthetics, she leads us through a story that only at first glance seems far away.
