The former railroad worker, Josef, has retired at an early age and lives in an abandoned theatre. After the death of his wife, he has become a loner and has no obligations. Willie belongs to the next generation, he is an intellectual dropout on the road from his problems with his employer and familiy. He often drinks too much. During a drinking bout with Josef, he accidently snaps a picture of a young rocker who's just killing somebody. Willie and Josef haven't given up. But Willie can't communicate with his family and Josef doesn't feel o.k. when he's staying with his well-established son in Munich. But drinking helps them. Their friends consist of an aged prostitute and a waitress. They pep themselves up by stealing an autobus and going to the country or wandering around Vienna at night. The rocker and his girlfriend want the incriminating photographs. There's a wild chase after Willie, the crime is accidently revenged without Willie and Josef having anything to do with it. Willie tries again to return to his job and family. A road movie full of adventure and action.
