Heinz Hoschek returns to the unoccupied apartment of his parents. His mother has died, the father lives in a nursing home. Hoschek, who formerly worked as a branch manager of a bank, has lost his job and his marriage has failed. In his loneliness he recalls long past days amd due to the influence of alcohol and medication, he constantly loses the ability to distinguish between reality and fantasy. Apparently coming to an end the story surprises us.
