On May 6th 1945, soldiers of the US army take over the house of the Himmler family in Gmund, Germany. During their stay, the American soldiers find hundreds of private letters, documents, diaries and photos. Against their orders, they did not hand over these documents to the military authorities. The Decent One is based on these never previously exposed private documents that were found in Himmler's house. Through these documents, the life and the mind of the Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler are exposed.
