Giuliana lives in the linguistic enclave of Sappada, near the Austrian border. Alongside her work in the kitchen of the Hotel Bellavista, she studies the dialect of the Plodars, with which she has been familiar all her life. Peter accompanies her on a visist to the elders and to her childhood home. Village life confronts them both with the contradictions in their own biographies.
